The Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, Lord Tollemache, today (Friday 10th November) presented the Queen’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade to St. Peter’s Brewery at a ceremony in St. Peter’s Hall, the centrepiece of the brewery site located in north Suffolk close to the historic market town of Bungay.
In the citation which accompanied the Grant of Appointment and the presentation of a commemorative crystal bowl, the Lord Lieutenant, Her Majesty’s representative in the county, congratulated the company on its export achievements and the highlighted progress the brand has made in selling its beers in major markets such as the US, Canada and Russia
In accepting the award, Colin Cordy, Managing Director of St. Peter’s, paid tribute to and thanked a number of people and organisations who have paid a significant part in the evolution of the company, particularly those whose advice and encouragement has seen the company become a significant player in export markets around the world. The numerous importers were also thanked for their contributions whilst the workforce at St. Peter’s were praised for their continuing commitment.
St. Peter’s now exports its beers and ales to over 20 markets and has plans to further increase this in 2007. Meanwhile, sales in the UK are also growing fast both in the on and off trade markets with volumes over 40% ahead of last year.
