Full on Food is Full on St. Peter's Organic Ale

St. Peter’s Organic Ale came out top in this week’s product test on the BBC Full on Food programme, broadcast on 20th July 2005.

The programme reviewed a range of high street beers and lagers with Organic Ale winning the contest with presenters describing it as, delicate, clean, crisp, lightly carbonated, traditional English ale with a full citrus hop aftertaste.”

Runners up, included Budvar, Löwenbräu and Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc, all of which are brewed by multi-national companies.

In 2002, St. Peter’s Organic Ale won the top prize in the Soil Association’s annual awards.

Organic Ale has a 4.5% ABV and is made from light malted barley from Norfolk and organic Hallertau hops from New Zealand.


Colin Cordy, managing director of St. Peter’s Brewery says: “We are delighted to win this product review tasting on BBC Full on Food. Organic Ale has always been popular because it is easy to drink and has such a distinctive traditional flavour and goes well with all foods.”

CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale recently announced that St. Peter's Brewery, Old Style Porter 5.1% ABV, was voted Champion Beer of Suffolk by an expert tasting panel.

All St. Peter’s Beers and Ales are all 'real ales' and are brewed using the finest ingredients - local East Anglian malts and British hops. The water is drawn from their own deep source within the chalk layer way below St. Peter’s Hall.

The range of beers and ales are available in the distinctive 500ml St. Peter’s bottles.
